Description
This dress shows you what I would create if I had to clothe the court of Titania and Oberon, in Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream, if I had to give it both the magic of the setting and the flavor of the era it was written in.
How it started
This dress began as a simple black smock, essentially a Renaissance inspired black silk organza shirt. Then creativity took control and transformed it into something entirely different.
It is loosely inspired by the antique Florentine gown preserved in Palazzo Pitti, but it has no sleeves, because why hide the glorious sheer poofiness of the undergarment?
I pleated and applied the decorative elements that some of you called goth farfalle pasta, which I used as a trim. They now resemble autumn leaves or strange flowers. The palette shifts between an autumn forest mood and vivid accents of emerald silk, with touches of neon pink that make all the other color vibrate, as if they were glowing by magic.
Do not mistake the pink for something girly. The shade is unsettling on purpose, like a poisonous mushroom glowing with forbidden magic, or a strange lichen illuminated in the dark. This is a gown for someone who possesses something a mortal might want, but will not give away without a price paid in firstborns and memories of happy times.
Practical details
You will need a petticoat and probably a bum roll underneath.
The skirt is longer than the green underskirt and can be lightly gathered at the waist to enhance the volume of the outer skirt at the hips.
The piece will ship once I have photographed it for my portfolio. It is a special creation and deserves a proper photoshoot.
