My personal Sith Archivist original costume drawing from the dark, theatrical aesthetics of the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy and the Nightsisters of Dathomir.

This is what I make when I want something both scene-stealing and comfortable.

Materials

The base dress is made from blood-red stretch velvet, which can appear almost black, depending on the lighting.

Over it sits a flowing top robe made from the thinnest silk voile I could find, which I ombré-dyed from black to deep red. The voile is decorated with ancient-looking inscriptions, giving the costume the feel of something belonging to a Sith of a forgotten order.

The same silk voile is used for the veil, which is worn over the dramatic headdress. The headdress is designed to be anchored to a French braid underneath.

At the back, a silver hair braid incorporating red LED lights is included. This detail was inspired by one of the original costume sketches developed for the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy.

The Sith Archivist original costume is a one-of-a-kind piece, which I will not replicate.

Measurements

I made this Sith Archivist original costume for myself, so these are my own body measurements. The stretch velvet makes the dress quite forgiving and adaptable.

Bust: 100 cm / 39.4″
Hips: 106 cm / 41.7″
Height: 162 cm / 63.8″ (approximately 5’4″)

The dress is intentionally extra long. I originally wore it with ballet pointe shoes underneath, both to add height and to create a rather unsettling way of moving.

It can easily be re-hemmed or shortened to suit a different height or footwear.

Accessories

The headdress of the Sith Archivist original costume has to sit at the back of the head. It is not heavy, but it is not balanced to the center of the head: you will need long hairpins and a french braid underneath, to anchor it properly and distribute the weight.

I am gradually leaving my cosplay career behind, so this piece unfortunately does not get worn nearly as much as it deserves. It has only been used for photography and costuming.
