Description
This is my replica of Palpatine black robe from the beginning of Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, made for myself and used for my own costuming work.
Materials
I used a matelassé fabric chosen to reproduce the appearance of the original’s unusual printed and rubberized wool. Its raised, irregular pattern is reminiscent of volcanic stones. It was rather a lucky find, and I used it on the reverse side, to get the look of the Palpatine Black robe from episode III.
The matching wig is included. Boots are not.
The edges are finished with p leather cording, the front closes with a zipper that is concealed by the front panel.
Both the front panel and the sleeves are reinforced with special construction that allows them to keep the shape. The shoulders are heavily padded to obtain a more masculine figure.
Measurements
- Bust: 100 cm / 39.4″
- Hips: 106 cm / 41.7″
- Height: 162 cm / 63.8″
- Shoulders: 42 cm / 16.5″
Disclaimers
This costume is being sold as a project rather than as a finished piece. The internal finishing is not up to the standard I would normally aim for today.
Most importantly, the cording needs to be replaced: I originally made it in faux leather, which has deteriorated with age and will need to be removed and replaced with a more suitable material. I have deliberately kept the price lower to reflect both the work still required and the limitations of the original sizing.
This is a one-of-a-kind costume, handmade for my own collection and never produced as a regular commission. The costume was used as a reference during the development of the 501st Legion CRL for Palpatine black robe from episode III, but this will not grant approval, which depends on the fit on the final wearer.
This is a fan-made, independently produced costume replica. It is not an official Star Wars product and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Lucasfilm, Disney, or any other rights holder.
