A small round painting study focusing on the face of Aurora from Fragonard’s Aurora, with the colours deliberately pushed towards the Rococo palette.
I was particularly interested in the way Fragonard uses colour to create his almost dreamlike quality, rather than simply reproducing the original. Working on a round format felt particularly appropriate to frame this kind of study.
These are all original, one-of-a-kind pieces, as usual. They are a lovely way to help me keep my art supplies box well fed.
