Description

Replica of Padmé Amidala’s Corset Gown from Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, made several years ago as part of my costume research and photography work. You do not how much of a stickler for details I am, when it comes to costumes from that universe. Here you can get an idea of the analysis and study there was behind this costume.

I am parting from it because I start having more SW costumes than SW events, and I am gradually stepping back from costumes designed by others. This means these pieces don’t get the out-of-closet time they would really deserve.

I made this costume with a particular obsession for the details that tend to get… simplified in reproductions. The outer bodice is made in leather and follows the unusual proportions of the original costume, with its very distinctive, almost conical shape. The number of panels, the way it curves over the hips… all has been made to be as in the original, not just a random corset pattern. Also… no boning channels or topstitching is visible.

The skirt uses a reproduction tulle and chenille lace fabric, recreated to match the original to perfection. It has an inner layer of tulle ruffles to keep the shape while walking, and has been made using several high-end techniques to make the fabric not limp. It behaves like a good girl, it has character, it is not floppy and soulless.

The feather shawl is another particularly detailed part of the costume. Instead of using only standard rooster feathers, I used a combination of rooster and mottled feathers to reproduce the variation in colour and texture visible in reference images of the costume.

The costume includes:

  • leather outer bodice
  • skirt with reproduction fabric
  • feather shawl
  • gloves
  • necklace

You will need a proper corset underneath, as the structure and shaping needs to be taken care by a different garment. If you have no clue on where to get one, you can commission yours to the very person who made this costume, and the one that used to go underneath: cosplay corset.

The costume has been used only for studio photography and has never been worn for conventions or outdoor events.

Measurements

The costume was made for me at approximately 162 cm / 5’4″ tall, wearing approximately 5 cm / 2″ heels.

Approximate body measurements:

  • Bust: 103 cm / 40.6″
  • Waist: 68 cm / 26.8″ maximum
  • Hips: 105 cm / 41.3″

Please consider these measurements together with the fact that the costume was designed to be worn over a corset. The internal corset is not part of the sale.

This is an existing one-of-a-kind handmade piece. I am no longer making this costume as a regular commission, so this is the only opportunity to acquire this particular replica. It also has all the love and dedication I use not only for my customers, but for myself. And I have made several of these, always adjusting and improving. So this is the very best and last Grimilde Malatesta replica of this very design.

This is a fan-made, independently produced costume replica and is of course not an official Star Wars product. Though I really have poured my heart into it.

At the time it was Rebe Legion approved, I do not grant approval, as it depends on how it looks on the final wearer. I will not alter it.
