Description
It’s big, light, and very, very pink.
This pink silk dramatic cape takes inspiration from the theatrical silhouettes of the 1890s, with a standing Medici collar and bow-butterfly leg-o-mutton sleeves. It has all the drama of late Victorian fashion, but without the constraints of a strictly historical garment.
Wear it for a special occasion, to the theater, or, frankly, just to go shopping for groceries. We endorse it.
The fabric is a silk blend, magenta shot with red. The color has depth and movement, shifting slightly with the light: sometimes cooler, sometimes warmer. It is not a flat pink, and it changes as you move.
Despite its generous volume, the cape packs down to almost nothing, making it much easier to handle and transport than its size would suggest.
This is a structured design. The shoulders, neckline and arm openings are fixed and are not adjustable.
Measurements
To check whether the cape could work for you, measure around your shoulders above the bust, following an off-shoulder line.
If you are over 110 cm (43.5 inches), it might fit. If you are close to that measurement, it becomes a bit of a gamble.
To know before purchasing
The fabric had minor imperfections from the start, including a few dark inconsistencies in the weave. They are barely noticeable when the cape is worn and are visible mainly on close inspection.
I chose not to discard the fabric to avoid unnecessary waste. The finished piece remains visually and structurally solid.
Notes
I will not be making replicas of this cape, either in other sizes or in other colors.
If you like this particular piece, I would suggest getting it before someone else does.
And while we are here: please do not copy the design, either in another size or another color. This is an original design and is not offered as a pattern or base for reproduction.
