Description

This series of dresses is inspired by my journey to the city of Versailles to attend Fetes Galantes, in 2024.

It all started from a sketch I did many years ago, and which inspired the flower dress you may already know.

It is however made of smaller flowers, like the ones I used for my Madame de Pompadour dress. They will start white, most of the time, and will be painted by hand to replicate the effects of the fabric in Marie Antoinette’s bedroom at the Petit Trianon, the boiserie in the museum of the history of the City of Versailles, and many more.

I know I want to make one of these… I am not sure I want to make more. So if you’re interested in one, I suggest not to wait for too long.

All of these can be slightly adjusted in color, to accomodate warm or cold skin tones. All of these will be made from silk taffeta or slubless dupion. All of these will have some ageing and hand painting.

The dresses

L’épouse

The bride. This comes after an idea I wanted to do for ages. The dress will start white, or ivory, and I will apply all the flounces and flowers. Then I will start adding light watercolor-like veilings of pastel colors, and leaving them stain the surrounding fabrics, like the colors have bled over time. This dress will be real magic, and if you’re looking for something you could wear for both Fetes Galantes and your wedding, look no further!

Le bonbon du Trianon

Let them eat cake? She didn’t say that for reals, but I did want a dress that looked both like a cake and the rococo interiors of the palace estate buildings. A pink (either warm or cold) base, with roses and embellishment gilded in gold.

Verdigris

Inspired by the boiserie of the museum of the city of Versailles, this starts from a light aqua or sage silk taffeta, and the flowers will start white. They will be painted grey and verdigris, and the color will bleed lightly over the fabrics for a timeless look. Some extra painting and ageing may occurr.

Toinette

Inspired by the fabrics in Marie Antoinette’s bedroom at Petit Trianon, this cream base dress will feature deep red roses with dark leaves.

How it works

The PRICE RANGE: can be made for 3200.

With 330 extra euros I will include the wig (soft english 1770s style, not high french style).

I may make minor changes in the design while working on it, but the final work will be true to the feel of the sketch.

You need to already have a good pair of stays, a pair of false rumps and a petticoat. Though I accept commissions for this in all sizes, you need to have a pair of stays that shapes your body nicely and gives good contrast between hips, waist and bust, whatever your circumferences are. I will take the liberty to reject commissions requests with undergarments that do not fit the requirements of the dress.

If you don’t have a pair that works look here.

I will require at least one mock-up and videocall fitting.

Crafting time depends on the current commissions list. I will need at least one year to make this. If you have a deadline, please inquire BEFORE placing your order.

I will not replicate these dresses.
